Hannah Toticki: EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE, ALL THE TIME at National Museum of Contemporary Art Αthens (ΕΜΣΤ)
In her solo exhibition at ΕΜΣΤ, Hannah Toticki takes a critical yet often humorous approach to the conditions of contemporary working life. Exploring the notion of the “burnout society”, women’s invisible labour and our relationship with technology, her work examines how productivity and economic growth have come to shape our understanding of work, identity and everyday life. Toticki also considers the ways in which work has taken on an almost religious significance within late-stage capitalism.
In a world of 24/7 markets, rapidly evolving technologies and an ever-present demand for productivity and consumption, the boundaries between night and day, public and private, and work and leisure become increasingly blurred. Everything, Everywhere, All the Time draws attention to the absurdities and contradictions of contemporary life, questioning the consequences of relentless growth for natural resources, ecosystems and the human body itself.
