Wilson Saplana Gallery is delighted to present Maiken Bent’s solo exhibition Hydraulic Gear and Love Joy Coupling. Bent’s new sculptural works combine industrial objects with handcrafted details, creating a playful tension between hard and soft, practical and poetic. Heavy chains, a bright blue workshop crane, and a resilient fitness floor meet patchworked leather, hand-burned ceramics, and reconfigured hardware.
The gallery on Vesterbrogade becomes a stage where gym, warehouse, and nostalgic Danish interiors collide. Visitors experience the space physically as they walk across the springy floor, while colorful chains hang from above and a crane anchors the central installation. Through this interplay of materials, Bent questions taste, value, and the shifting status of objects. Even the exhibition title, Hydraulic Gear and Love Joy Coupling, borrows from industrial jargon, opening up unexpected poetic associations. The result is a paradoxical, sensory universe where opposites meet, collide, and transform.
