Hannah Heilmann (DK, b. 1978), is an accomplished Danish artist and art historian who employs a cross-media approach in her practice, where paintings, poems, and interactive installations tell complex and poetic narratives about consumerism. Heilmann researches the history of fashion and material fetish (including her own) which provides a perfect back-drop for all kinds of experiments and visualities. Her genius is in combining found objects with simple paintings and drawings. In her works, folklore-like stick-figures run around in windy environments. They fight with flying middle age dresses and boots that are running away by themselves. Her practice evokes humor, seriousness and wonder.

Hannah Heilmann is MA in Art History from the University of Copenhagen, and lecturer at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. She has has exhibited at EKKM – Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia, the Lobster, Los Angeles, Le Bicolore, Paris, Loggia, Vienna, and at ARoS – Aarhus Art Museum, Møstings Hus Kunsthal, and Den Frie Center of Contemporary Art. She has performed at The National Gallery, Copenhagen, the National Gallery, Vilius, and at Manifesta 11, Zürich. She has been premiered by the Danish Arts Foundation, and her works are part of collections at The National Gallery, Brandts Art Museum and Heart – Herning Museum of Contemporary Art.
